Job summary

RSI seeks a Civil-Hydrologic Engineer to lead hydrologic analyses of engineered waste covers and erosion protection systems. You will mentor engineers, interface with NRC and EPA, and translate research into practical guidance while coordinating with project managers to keep field investigations on scope and schedule.

The role requires applying unsaturated soil concepts, performing risk-informed assessments, and developing programmatic tools across a 200- to 1,000-year regulatory horizon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Five years of relevant experience in Civil/Environmental Eng or reclamation of legacy waste sites.
• PE licensure is preferred; active licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrologic analyses of disposal cell covers and erosion protection systems under senior direction.
• Review hydrologic characterizations prepared by external parties to support DOE-LM objectives.
• Participate in physical model studies and work plans evaluating erosion protection performance.
• Support field investigations at legacy UMTRCA and CERCLA sites; collect data and document geomorphic features.
• Draft technical reports and apply risk-informed decision frameworks.
• Perform technical reviews of hydrology, hydraulics, sediment transport, and engineered barriers.
