Job summary

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Intern for a 3-4 month period in our Boston, MA office. You will assist office engineers and project managers with day-to-day tasks and gain hands-on field experience on construction projects.

The role requires 2 years into an engineering program (civil/geotechnical/environmental), initiative, and strong teamwork. Expect site visits, field reporting, and collaboration with project teams.

Qualifications

• Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career.
• Enrolled in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering program (undergraduate or graduate).
• Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license highly preferred.
• Willingness to travel to Greater Boston area job sites and work outside the office 90% of the time.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in field environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining on-site health and safety expectations.
• Serve in a field support role, working on construction projects including observation and sampling.
• Visit construction sites to assist in field with the monitoring service group.
• Assist with planning and execution of site characterization, subsurface investigation, and construction projects.
• Communicate with the project team and prepare field reports.
• Review design drawings, specifications, and geotechnical/environmental reports.
• Assist with evaluation of subsurface data and collection of instrumentation data.
