Job summary

Haley & Aldrich in Boston, MA is seeking a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Technician Co‑op for 4–6 consecutive months starting Winter 2027. You will assist office engineers and project managers with daily project tasks and gain hands-on field experience.

The role offers exposure to construction monitoring, field sampling, and site characterization while developing technical and communication skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Candidate should be at least 2 years into their academic career.
• Enrolled in a civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering program (undergraduate or graduate).
• Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
• Computer skills – proficiency in MS Office software.
• Valid driver’s license highly preferred.
• Able to work 4+ consecutive months full-time.
• Will travel to job sites within Greater Boston area and work outside office 90% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining on-site health and safety expectations.
• Field support role on construction projects including observation, soil/groundwater sampling, in-situ density testing, earthwork foundation observation.
• Visit construction sites for field monitoring support.
• Assist with planning and execution of site characterization and subsurface investigation.
• Communicate with project team and prepare field reports.
• Review design drawings, specifications, geotechnical/environmental reports.
• Assist with evaluation of subsurface data and collection of instrumentation data.
