Job summary

Carlson McCain, Inc. is seeking a Civil Field Engineer Co-op for summer and fall 2027 in Plymouth, MN. You will oversee construction, review plans, take photos, and prepare daily reports under senior staff guidance.

Additional duties include GPS fieldwork, sampling media, data compilation, and preparing technical reports. Travel to project sites and lodging/transportation support are provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Familiarity with USCS soil classification system.
• Detail-oriented with documentation and technical writing skills.
• Clean driving record and ability to drive a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction activities and review plans and specs.
• Document via photographs, daily reports, and data compilation.
• Coordinate with contractors and participate in construction meetings.
• Operate GPS survey equipment and assist with field data collection and reporting.
• Sample soils, groundwater, surface water, and solid waste as needed.
• Communicate with clients, laboratories, and project personnel.
