Job summary

Carlson McCain, Inc. is seeking a field scientist to perform site investigation and remediation tasks in Plymouth, MN. Responsibilities include logging soil borings, overseeing monitoring wells, sampling diverse media, and preparing technical reports, with travel within MN and occasional trips to ND/SD.

A related degree and basic field experience are required. The role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits; travel is anticipated to be within Minnesota with some overnight travel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, or related discipline.
• 1-2 years of geology and environmental services experience.
• Familiarity with the environmental site assessment process (Phase I/II ESAs).
• Familiarity with underground storage tank removals and the MPCA Petroleum Remediation Program.
• Good time-management and ability to track hours for a variety of projects.
• Valid driver’s license, and able to drive a company vehicle as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and document site investigation and remediation activities.
• Log soil borings, classify soil, and collect samples.
• Oversee and document monitoring well installation; perform measurements and testing.
• Sample soil, groundwater, surface water, soil gas, and solid waste.
• Compile and analyze field data and prepare technical reports and figures.
• Correspond with clients, contractors, laboratories, etc.
• Research environmental information and summarize findings.
