Job summary

JJB South is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate estimates for civil construction projects, including underground utilities and site development.

You will review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, develop pricing, solicit vendor quotes, identify risks, and support the bid process from review to handoff. Strong knowledge of HCSS HeavyBid and 5+ years of estimating in civil construction preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in civil construction.
• Experience with underground utilities, site development, earthwork or related civil scopes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and bid documents.
• Strong understanding of quantity takeoffs, labor, equipment, materials and pricing.
• Experience with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specs, bid docs to understand scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for underground utilities, site development, earthwork.
• Prepare estimates including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors and indirect costs.
• Request and compare vendor/subcontractor quotes.
• Identify risks, gaps, and constructability concerns.
• Maintain estimates and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate bid reviews and revisions before submission.
• Assist with bid forms, pricing docs, and handoff for awarded projects.
• Track bid results and incorporate lessons learned.
