Job summary

Teksky LLC is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to prepare accurate bids and cost estimates for earthwork, grading, paving, and wet utilities. The role involves managing multiple bids, collaborating with subcontractors and suppliers, and delivering estimates under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities include detailed takeoffs, reviewing drawings and contract documents, developing estimates from $500K to $5M, and maintaining bid documentation.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
  • Experience with earthwork, grading, paving, and/or wet utilities.
  • Proficiency with HCSS/HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
  • Trimble Business Center and/or Bluebeam for takeoffs preferred.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to prepare accurate bids and cost estimates for civil construction projects involving earthwork, grading, paving, and wet utilities. The ideal candidate can manage multiple bids, work with subcontractors and suppliers, and deliver accurate estimates under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, paving, and wet utilities.
  • Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Develop estimates for projects ranging from approximately $500K–$5M.
  • Prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Negotiate subcontractor quotes and ensure pricing aligns with project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate material, labor, and unit-cost databases.
  • Prepare and revise bids as project requirements change.
  • Coordinate with project management and operations teams during the bidding process.
  • Maintain organized bid documentation and meet critical bid deadlines.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of heavy civil construction estimating experience.
  • Experience with earthwork, grading, paving, and/or wet utilities.
  • Proficiency with HCSS/HeavyBid or similar estimating software.
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center and/or Bluebeam for takeoffs preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience with subcontractor and supplier negotiations.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
