Job summary

Moore Industries, Inc. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana seeks a Civil Estimator to lead bid development for civil projects in industrial settings.

You will perform quantity take-offs, prepare costed proposals, and collaborate with owners, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive, accurate estimates. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of civil estimating experience, strong software skills (Sage Timberline, Plan Grid, Primavera P6), and the ability to review drawings and provide value

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of civil estimating experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; knowledge of local codes and safety regs.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates and required proposal documents for bids in a timely manner.
• Confer with owner, client, engineers, subs to resolve issues and provide cost-effective estimates.
• Perform labor, material, general conditions, and equipment take-offs; identify costs.
• Develop relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Create project schedules using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
• Assess execution approaches for cost effectiveness and technical acceptability.
• Develop procedures and guidelines for future estimates using past data.
• Provide guidance and training for less experienced associates.
• Offer value engineering options to the estimating team.
• Determine technical aspects and sequence of tasks for estimation.
• Develop bid tabs through complete document review.
• Attend client pre-bid and internal estimate meetings.
• Use internal processes to prioritize bid opportunities and draft RFPs.
