Job summary

Parkhill, located in Lubbock, TX, seeks a part-time, hourly engineering support role under supervision. You will assist engineers with graphic materials, design sketches, and permit applications while gaining exposure to construction-phase activities.

You will help with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, field data collection and library maintenance using CAD tools. Must be a Civil Engineering student; prior experience not required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university.
• Interest in construction/design and basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction phase services as directed by project engineer.
• Help check engineering calculations and basic design tasks.
• Prepare graphics, sketches, and permit applications as needed.
• Collect field data and test samples and maintain the technical library.
• Support in preparing proposals and basic cost estimates.

Under close supervision, performs routine tasks requiring knowledge offundamental engineering, mathematical and construction concepts.Provides support to engineers, CADD supervisor, or project team in thepreparation of graphic materials, design sketches, study materials andpermit applications. This is a part-time, non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis.

Responsibilities

• Assists with construction phase services as directed by project engineer.
• Assists with checking engineering calculations.
• Assists with fundamental project tasks such as quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and basic design calculations.
• Assists in preparing marketing proposals.
• Assists in collecting field data and test samples.
• Assists in maintaining the technical library.
• Performs routine filing and delivery of documents.
• Proficient in the use of computers, computer aided design and other relevant software and hardware tools.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Student status in Civil Engineering or an appropriate related discipline at an accredited college or university.
