Job summary

Bowman in Washington DC invites applications for a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The role supports design and development of traffic studies, water, storm and sanitary sewer work, and construction plans under supervision. You will gain hands-on experience across site plans and roadway work.

Responsibilities include CAD drafting, site grading, field inspections, and participation in construction administration activities, preparing you for professional growth in civil engineering.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in college or continuing education program.
• Focus on civil engineering or related discipline strongly preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Must hold a valid state driver's license and pass motor vehicle check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project scope including site grading, erosion control design, CAD design and drafting, storm water management design, water treatment, traffic analysis and/or utility design.
• Assist with field inspections.
• Observe and participate in construction administration (RFI/Submittal) responsibilities.
