Job summary

Bowman Consulting in Washington, DC is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience across traffic studies, water, storm and sanitary sewer studies, and construction/site plans. Under supervision, you will assist with CAD design, site grading, erosion control, and field inspections, while learning to navigate project workflows and coordinate with multiple teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
• Enrolled in community college courses, a college degree program, or formal continuing education program.
• Focus on civil engineering or related discipline is strongly preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site grading, erosion and sediment control design, CAD design and drafting, storm water management design, water treatment, traffic analysis and/or utility design.
• Assist with field inspections.
• Observe and participate in construction administration (RFI/Submittal) responsibilities.
