Job summary

City of New York seeks two Civil Engineering Interns to support Site Civil and Structural sections within BEDC, Lefrak Office in Queens. Under supervision, you will help prepare drawings, calculations and specs for large water and wastewater projects.

You will conduct investigations, review shop drawings and RFIs, assist with scheduling, and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders while maintaining issue-tracking logs. A DCAS exam or permanent civil service status is required.

Qualifications

• A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work if degree is in civil engineering technology.
• Permanent Civil Service status as Civil Engineering Intern or DCAS Civil Service Exam (Exam No. 6116) is required to apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering documents including drawings, calculations, and specifications for water and wastewater facilities during design and construction.
• Conduct field investigations and site visits; review shop drawings and RFIs; assist in project schedule development.
• Coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders; document issues and resolutions in issues logs.

Education

Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering

Civil engineering technology degree + 2 years experience
