Job summary

City of New York's Department of Design & Construction seeks a Junior Engineer to join the Design Unit in NYC. The position provides hands-on training and exposure to engineering tasks from moderate to complex, under supervision.

A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering is required, with eligibility restrictions: only permanent civil service status or candidates on the DDC promotional list (exam #5047) or filed for open-competitive exam #6116 may apply.

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.).
• Degree in civil engineering required; other engineering areas or civil engineering technology not acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on training and work on a range of engineering tasks from moderate to complex.
• Conduct research studies, engineering investigations and assessments related to various engineering functions.
• Carry out civil engineering tasks of moderate complexity under supervision, including design, drafting, investigations, cost estimation, specifications, structural calculations, field surveys and site inspections.
