Job summary

NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a Civil Engineer with strong structural background for the IHD within BEDC. The role focuses on design of water tunnels, wastewater facilities, and related large-scale infrastructure in New York City.

Requirements include five years in structural engineering, proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, and a NY Professional Engineer license. Position includes fieldwork, reviews, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

Five years of full-time structural engineering experience.
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs such as STAAD Pro, RAM Elements, SAFE, PCA Column/Beam.
Experience in preparing contract drawings, shop drawing review, and field inspections.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A valid New York State Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Prepare engineering documents for water tunnels, wastewater treatment systems, and other large facilities.
Prepare plans, specifications, and related calculations; conduct field visits.
Provide design services during construction (DSDC), review shop drawings, and issue change orders.
Coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders; travel to job sites as needed.
Review and/or oversee designs prepared by outsourced firms and sign/seal construction documents.
