Hatch is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Rail) to join the Infrastructure group in Houston, TX. You will support offices globally by delivering project deliverables and interfacing with rail and terminal operations, signaling, and related systems.

As an intern, you will organize technical work, assist with analyses and drawings, contribute to proposals, and participate in development activities while traveling to onsite locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Willingness to travel and work onsite, including remote locations.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate with technical groups to deliver project requirements, including interfaces with rail operations and related systems.
  • Prepare civil engineering analyses and reviews: grade and track alignments, cost estimates, design reports, and drawings.
  • Interface and communicate with the project team on tasks and deliverables.
  • Support business development activities, including proposals and estimating deliverables.
  • Participate in internal and external development and training activities.
  • Develop models and drawings, ensuring accuracy and proper layout.

Hatch is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Rail). Reporting to the Infrastructure group, you will support offices globally working from our Houston, TX office location.

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Organize and work with technical groups in the delivery of project deliverable requirements, including interfaces with rail and terminal operations, signaling, wayside monitoring, overhear catenary systems, rail communications, structures, drainage, roads and rolling stock
  • Prepare civil engineering analyses and review including: evaluating vertical and horizontal grade and track alignments; quantity and construction cost estimates; engineering design reports; technical specifications; material and equipment selection; cost estimates; construction contract documentation; compilation of design/construction drawings; etc.
  • Interface and communicate with team on project specific tasks
  • Provide support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, estimating deliverables, and the associated effort to complete
  • Actively participate in supporting internal and external development and training activities
  • Support development of all models and drawings, ensuring accuracy of all models and layout of drawings

  • Willingness to travel and work onsite (including remote locations)
  • Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred
