Reporting to the Infrastructure group, you will support design and analysis for rail and transit projects while gaining exposure to signaling, power distribution, and systems integration. This in-person internship emphasizes collaboration, hands-on design work, and mentorship; candidates must be pursuing an EE degree with a 3.0+ GPA and have basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor's or master's in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments applying standard techniques for Rail and Transit systems covering signaling, traction power, communications, SCADA, Rail Track, Safety Systems, Systems Integration, and Systems Engineering.
  • Assist with technical design reviews and calculations checks.
  • Coordinate with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables.
  • Assist in the design of power distribution systems.
  • Assist senior engineers and designers as needed.
  • Contribute to overall needs for project completion.
  • Improve technical communication and report writing skills.

Hatch is seeking a Rail Systems Intern. Reporting to theInfrastructure group, you will support offices globally working from ourAmbler, PAoffice location.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks for projects in the field of Rail and Transit systems covering: signaling, traction power, communications (Radio, Fiber optics, CCTV, Intercom, Public Announcement), SCADA, Rail Track, Safety Systems Assurance, Systems Integration, and Systems Engineering
  • Assist with technical design reviews and calculations checks
  • Coordination with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables
  • Assist in the design of power distribution systems
  • Assistance of senior engineers and designers as and when needed
  • Contribute to overall needs for project completion
  • Improve technical communication and report writing skills

You bring to the role:

  • Interest in rail and transit design as a career
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation
  • Extracurricular involvement
  • Knowledge of or experience in a consultancy environment undertaking infrastructure projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment with multidisciplinary interaction
  • Willingness to travel to various Hatch offices and project sites
  • Previous co-op or internship experience is considered an asset
