Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for the night/overnight shift at 130 Livingston St., Brooklyn, NY. The role supports senior engineers in track engineering tasks across MOW, capital projects, and infrastructure work.
Candidate should have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and strong MS Office, MicroStation, and drawing-reading skills. The position emphasizes design, field surveys, construction support, and safety of NYCT's track system.

Hours of Work: 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Night/Overnight Shift)

This position will support senior engineers in delivering timely and accurate Track Engineering assistance for MOW, Capital Construction, and C&D Projects. Responsibilities include work related to tracks, switches, third rail systems, ADA station modernization, and platform rehabilitation projects. Key tasks involve designing special trackwork, conducting field engineering surveys, providing construction support, reviewing shop drawings, evaluating first-article materials, and maintaining/updating Standard Track Drawings and Specifications for Track, Infrastructure, and Power Distribution Materials. Additionally, this role participates in derailment investigations and other track-related incidents. These tasks are crucial for ensuring the timely completion of track projects—whether in-house or through third-party contracts—and maintaining the safety of NYCT’s track system.
