Job summary

SME invites motivated students to join our summer Co-op program in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. The assignment runs mid-May 2027 through late November/early December 2027, with orientation and on-the-job training alongside SME Team Members on diverse construction projects.

Co-ops gain experience in soils, concrete, asphalt testing, and interact with construction managers, contractors, and design professionals; housing stipend and vehicle provided; safety gear and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Some college or better in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Summer internships are only available to those who have previously completed a Co-op with SME.

Responsibilities

• Support field construction quality control activities.
• Assist SME engineers and managers on project sites.
• Perform field evaluations and testing with SME staff.
• Interact with construction managers, contractors, and design professionals.
