Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer - Utilities to join our Telecommunications Team in Frisco, TX. You will plan, design, and oversee utility relocation projects, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with several groups to deliver high-quality, on-time solutions.

You will contribute to permitting, construction administration, and client coordination while leveraging AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Bluebeam along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Experience in utility relocation design, utility coordination, or roadway design.
  • Positive work ethic and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time while working on several projects concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Review roadway plans to identify conflicts with existing utilities.
  • Design civil relocation plans for telecommunications and other utility projects using MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other design software.
  • Plan and oversee work production to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Technical oversight, training and mentoring of less experienced staff.
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate efforts with support groups.
  • Review projects for accuracy, quality, and adherence to client specifications.
  • Provide direction and support for permit plans and work prints drafted in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Provide office support for site visits and participate in site visits which may include overnight travel.

Civil Engineer - Utilities

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Civil Engineer - Utilities in one of the posting locations below. Qualified candidates will work with our Energy & Utility Group as a part of the Telecommunications Team in the planning, drafting, design, permitting and construction administration of telecommunications and utility projects.

Posting Locations for this role: Lisle, IL; Frisco, TX; Charlotte, NC; or St. Louis, MO

What You'll Do
  • Review roadway plans to identify conflicts with existing utilities

What You'll Need

  • Experience submitting and tracking permits (DOT, municipal, USACE, etc.) for utility projects

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
