We are a recognized leader in transportation, civil, environmental, water/wastewater, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering. We currently have an opportunity for an entry level Civil Engineer to join our Champaign, IL office. The selected candidate will work as part of a team and contribute to the planning and design of transportation projects for a variety of state and local agencies in Illinois. Our transportation projects can include a variety of linear features along a transportation corridor, such as traffic, pavement, signals and lighting, structures, storm systems, drainage, watermain transmission, and sanitary systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs design tasks for a variety of transportation improvement projects under the direction of Sr. Engineers.
  • Calculates quantities using Bentley’s Open Roads Designer and Excel and develops cost estimates.
  • Develops Maintenance of Traffic and culvert/storm sewer hydraulic design calculations.
  • Develops alignment/grade, drainage system plans, and roadway plans in Open Roads Designer.
  • Learns and applies the IDOT Design Manual and AASHTO standards to complete tasks.
  • Assists with field data collection and construction inspection/documentation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, EIT is desired.
  • Must have a strong interest in the field of transportation engineering and a desire to learn and develop skills toward becoming a professional engineer.
  • Previous transportation engineering experience (fulltime or internship) is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply civil engineering fundamentals to academic or real-world projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, write design memos and work as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with Bentley software: MicroStation or Open Roads Designer is preferred. Exposure to Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HCS and/or Synchro is desired. Proficiency with MS Office is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.
