Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Civil Engineer Trainee in Allentown, PA. You will rotate through multiple engineering units in District 5 Office to build a strong civil engineering foundation.

You will work on projects that support public safety and environmental protection, with training rotations across materials, traffic, construction, and roadway planning. Telework may be possible after probation.

Qualifications

• One year of civil engineering experience and a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
• A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through multiple engineering units to develop a strong civil engineering foundation.
• Work on a variety of assignments that support public safety and environmental protection.
• Build knowledge in materials, traffic, construction, and roadway planning.
• Work with supervisors and staff in each unit to complete assigned tasks.
• Receive feedback before moving to the next rotation segment.
