Job summary

Anne Arundel County Government is hiring an Engineer in the Engineering Division of the Department of Inspections and Permits. The Engineer I, II, or III level will perform progressively responsible engineering tasks, focusing on stormwater drainage, utilities, roads, and site development for residential and commercial projects.

The role requires strong knowledge of state and county codes, ability to work with planning and public works, and independent judgment as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; PE license or EIT preferred
• Two (2) years of professional engineering experience; valid Class C license
• Engineer I, II, or III depending on credentials and experience; full supervison varies

Responsibilities

• Review road and storm drain plans for permits and subdivisions
• Review stormwater management plans and mitigations for conformance with codes
• Review Preliminary and Site Development Plans; grading and building permits
• Coordinate reviews with Planning Zoning, Public Works and other agencies
• Meet with owners, developers, and outside agencies
• Perform independent engineering evaluations and recommendations
• Respond to drainage questions and project design concerns
