Job summary

The City of Compton is seeking a Civil Engineer to perform technical engineering work in the design and completion of construction, drainage/flood control and related infrastructure. Under supervision, you will coordinate projects, review reports, and ensure compliance with codes and standards. Requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, 3 years of experience, and an E.I.T.

registration. Valid CA driver’s license is mandatory; PE licensure is preferred for progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and three years of civil engineering experience or equivalent.
• Valid California Driver’s License (Class C) required.
• Registration as Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) by the California Board for Professional Engineers is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and prepare complete projects, including reports, calculations, plans and provisions.
• Gathers, reviews and validates calculations for design of roadways, flood control, traffic and infrastructure.
• Monitor projects, resolve discrepancies and recommend solutions to design problems.
• Perform field tests, inspect sites, ensure compliance with laws and safety standards.
• Write technical reports and estimates for civil engineering projects.
• Explain technical specifications and regulatory requirements to stakeholders.
• Maintain project records and documents.
