Job summary

AKRF's Engineering Department in New York City is seeking a civil engineering intern for the 2027 summer internship program. This role will support the design of commercial, residential, mixed-use, industrial and large-scale infrastructure projects, in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include preparing and modifying engineering documents using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related software, assessing site characteristics, and contributing to site/civil design tasks such as grading, drainage

Qualifications

Accredited STEM bachelor’s degree or STEM graduate program.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and take initiative.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, cost estimates and design plans using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and related tools.
Use records, maps and drawings to assess site characteristics and their impact on planning and design.
Site/civil design including layout, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management and erosion control.
Verify data and support project teams while meeting deadlines.
Demonstrate dependability and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
