Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. seeks a Civil Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 across all locations. The role blends field outdoor activities with in-office project support, helping engineers meet project milestones.

Interns will work on plan specs, AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings, and field data collection using GPS and Total Station, with exposure to roadway design, drainage analysis, and erosion control. Applicants should be enrolled in relevant civil engineering programs and capable of extended outdoor

Qualifications

Enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
Completed coursework in surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

Assist with plan specifications and estimates and document construction activities.
Assist with AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings and updateredlines with various project set drawings.
Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
Perform work in software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS.
Potential observation and data collection at different project sites.
Assist with research, development and design of projects.
