Job summary

City of Moline is seeking a Design Engineer to plan and deliver high-quality public infrastructure. You will design streets, utilities, parks, and other municipal projects under the Assistant Director of Engineering, preparing plans, specs, permits, and estimates while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires CAD and GIS proficiency, collaboration with staff and consultants, and involvement from concept through construction on capital projects. A PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of civil engineering principles for municipal streets, utilities, and public infrastructure.
• Knowledge of ADA, IDOT, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience designing municipal infrastructure with CAD tools.
• Experience with GIS data integration for engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Design plans and calculations for streets, utilities, parks, and other municipal projects.
• Develop drawings from schematic to as-built for public works.
• Incorporate safety and regulatory requirements into designs.
• Coordinate survey data and integrate into design software.
• Prepare project specifications, bid docs, and cost estimates.
• Submit state/federal permit docs for projects.
• Perform Phase I/II engineering for federally funded projects.
• Coordinate with inspectors, contractors, and city staff.
• Review external development plans for city standards compliance.
• Support capital improvement planning with scopes and budgets.
• Prepare technical reports and studies.
