Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a civil engineer to advance land-development projects across the Southeast. You will design site layouts, coordinate with clients and internal teams, and mentor junior staff as needed.

With a Bachelor’s in civil engineering and 4+ years of experience designing land‑development using Civil 3D, you’ll contribute to permitting, modeling, and design considerations. A strong client-service mindset and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 4+ years designing land-development projects.
• EIT or PE registration preferred (or ability to obtain PE within one year).
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site-development drawings for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Design water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Support permitting efforts and project design considerations.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare site‑development construction drawings for residential, commercial, and industrial projects


• Design water, sewer, and storm‑drainage infrastructure using AutoCAD and Civil 3D


• Develop engineering design considerations and support permitting efforts for land‑development projects


• Coordinate regularly with clients, project managers, and internal discipline teams


• Produce and refine models in Civil 3D, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to project standards


• Manage tasks to meet scope, schedule, and quality expectations

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering


• 4+ years of experience designing land‑development projects using Civil 3D


• EIT or PE registration preferred (or ability to obtain PE within one year)


• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software


• Clear written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and thrive in a fast‑paced environment

On-site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
