Job summary

Thomas & Hutton in Mount Pleasant, SC, is seeking a Project Manager/Project Engineer in Civil Site Development. You will lead site development projects for residential, commercial, and industrial clients, supervise drawing production with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and manage scopes, schedules, and budgets while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering, 5+ years of design and project management experience in a consulting setting, and a PE license

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• PE license is strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in civil engineering design.
• Experience producing site development plans for various sectors.
• Experience managing civil site development projects in a consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil site development projects for residential, commercial, and industrial clients.
• Prepare and oversee development of construction drawings for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Serve as a point of contact for clients and maintain strong communication.
• Lead and support proposal preparation and fee development efforts.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to support design and execution.
• Oversee engineering work and ensure alignment with goals and standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and team members.
• Manage tasks to meet scope, schedule, and quality objectives.

What you'll do

• Manage civil site development projects for residential, commercial, and industrial clients
• Prepare and oversee the development of construction drawings for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure successful project delivery
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams
• Serve as a point of contact for clients, maintaining strong communication throughout the project lifecycle
• Lead and support proposal preparation and fee development efforts
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to support design development and project execution
• Oversee engineering work and ensure alignment with project goals and company standards
• Support and mentor junior engineers and team members
• Manage tasks to meet scope, schedule, and quality objectives

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
• 5+ years of experience in civil engineering design
• Experience producing site development plans for residential, commercial, and/or industrial projects
• Experience managing civil site development projects in a consulting environment
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, preferably Civil 3D
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-facing focus
• Strong leadership abilities and experience working within project teams
• Understanding of business metrics for project success
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
