Job summary

EMH&T is seeking a Civil Engineer (EI) to join our Public Works team in Columbus, OH. You will work under experienced Engineers and Project Managers who mentor and support your career development.

You’ll prepare conceptual plans, plan sets, and various drawings, while collaborating with a team to deliver design solutions for public works projects. The role emphasizes attention to detail, effective communication, and independent work within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 0–4 years' experience; internships or co-op preferred.
  • Experience in civil/engineering consulting environment helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare conceptual plans, exhibits, and plan sets.
  • Perform drainage analysis and create surface, line, and contour drawings from survey data.
  • Develop plan/profile drawings, details, grading, utility plans, storm sewers, and roadways.
  • Assist with plan reviews, modifications, and coordination of work.

EMH&T is currently seeking a Civil Engineer (EI) to join our Public Works team located in Columbus, OH.

Our EIs work under the guidance of experienced Engineers and Project Managers who provide mentorship and support throughout your career development.

Responsibilities

Work includes preparing conceptual plans, exhibits, and plan sets. May include drainage analysis, preparing surfaces, line work and contour drawings from survey data points; developing plan and profile drawings and details, grading, utility plans, storm sewers, roadways, required easements, access drives, parking and more, in accordance with local zoning standards and internal EMH&T drafting standards.

You may be responsible for planning and organizing workflow, coordinating and overseeing work prepared by others, developing design calculations and subsequent plan details and specifications, as well as assisting with plan reviews and modifications.
