Job summary

Thomas & Hutton seeks an early‑career Civil Engineer to design site development projects and coordinate with clients and engineers. You will create construction drawings and manage drainage and utility designs using Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with opportunities to interact with clients and managers.

This role emphasizes growth into project leadership within a collaborative team. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, is pursuing EIT, and has 2+ years of land development experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; EIT preferred or able to obtain within 6 months.
• 2+ years of land development design experience using Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare site development construction drawings for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
• Design water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure systems.
• Develop design considerations and supporting calculations for site work.
• Prepare permit applications and documents for local/state agencies.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Model and refine designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

What You'll Do:

• Prepare site development construction drawings for residential, commercial, and industrial projects
• Design water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure systems
• Develop engineering design considerations and supporting calculations for site development projects
• Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for local and state agencies
• Coordinate regularly with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams
• Model and refine designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 2+ years of experience designing land development projects using Civil 3D
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with clients
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Self-starter with a client service–oriented mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment

Schedule:

On-site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
