Job summary

Kiewit is offering a Field/Office Engineer Intern position for Summer 2027 in Vancouver, WA and other districts across the U.S. You will gain hands-on construction management experience, reviewing drawings, submittals, schedules, and cost activities while supporting safety and quality initiatives.

You will work with seasoned professionals on highways, bridges, and marine projects, developing skills in planning, estimating, and project documentation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as needed.
• Available to work full-time during the summer (May–August).
• Ability to access construction sites in varied climates and environments.
• Demonstrated initiative, ethics, and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building, estimating, and scheduling civil, grading, utilities, roadway, and structural construction.
• Review proposals, specs, drawings; perform takeoffs; prepare cost estimates; attend meetings.
• Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
• Assist in safety programs and maintain owner relations and records.
• Plan and schedule jobs; monitor costs and materials; manage equipment.
• Investigate problems and propose solutions and alternatives.
• Review plans to determine material requirements and pricing.
