Southern Contracting, LLC is seeking a Civil Construction Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of heavy civil projects. You will collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to review plans, manage submittals, schedules, vendors, and subcontractors on complex federal and commercial sites.

This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree who want hands-on experience and a path to leadership.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship (required) – candidates must be U.S. Citizens to meet federal project requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required) or Construction Management (preferred alternative).
• 1+ years of experience in heavy civil construction preferred, though entry‑level candidates with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to pass State & Federal professional reviews to access military bases and Federal facilities.
• Civil Engineer license or active progress toward licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans and specifications to ensure accuracy in the construction process.
• Assist with reviewing and managing project submittals.
• Generate purchase orders and track material deliveries.
• Support project scheduling and subcontractor coordination.
• Prepare and organize daily field reports for review by project leadership.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and client requirements.
• Provide general support to Project Managers and Superintendents as needed
