Job summary

The City of Chicago Department of Law is seeking a Refuse Collection Coordinator to supervise citywide refuse collection, rodent control and recycling operations. You will analyze activity data, identify improvement areas, and adjust staffing for emergencies while ensuring efficient service delivery.

Applicants must have up to 4 years of relevant experience or appropriate degrees with clerical backing, and must meet licensing/driving requirements.

Qualifications

• 4 years of refuse collection or rodent control work experience or 4 years of clerical work relative to refuse collection/rodent control operations
• Associate degree plus 2 years in refuse collection/rodent control or related clerical work
• Bachelor’s degree or higher plus 1 year in refuse collection/rodent control or related clerical work

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate refuse collection, rodent control and recycling operations citywide
• Prepare and maintain daily activity reports
• Prepare and analyze citywide activity and status reports
• Identify trends and opportunities for improvement in refuse collection services
• Recommends staffing adjustments for emergencies or program changes
• Investigate and respond to complaints regarding sanitation services; issue citations
• Assist in street-sweeping and snow removal operations
• Supervise rodent baiting and cart distribution as needed
• Perform related duties as required
