Job summary

City of Compton seeks a seasoned administrative leader to plan, organize, and supervise citywide purchasing and stock control. You will direct the Purchasing Division, enforce policies, and ensure a perpetual inventory system across all departments.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college; substitution allowed for supervisory purchasing experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Minimum four (4) years of purchasing/stores management experience; at least two years in supervision.
• Knowledge of governmental purchasing, bidding processes, inventory accounting, and public administration.
• Ability to develop purchasing systems, maintain relationships, and prepare bid specifications.

Responsibilities

• Directs operation of the Purchasing Division and procurement for all city departments.
• Controls storing, distribution, and inventory; enforces approved purchasing policies.
• Negotiates purchases for quality, quantity and price; monitors bid processes and reports.
• Supervises inspection of purchases for conformity and manages surplus disposals.
