The City of Compton is seeking a Purchasing Officer who will oversee the day-to-day operations of the City’s purchasing activities and practices. This role manages a comprehensive city-wide program for procurement of services and equipment and develops policies and procedures for purchasing programs.

Under administrative direction, the individual will plan, organize, and supervise city-wide purchasing and stock control, performing related duties as required.

Qualificações

• Education: Graduation from an accredited college; courses in business/public administration suggested.
• Experience: minimum of four (4) years in purchasing and stores management; two years in supervision.
• Knowledge: governmental purchasing principles; bidding laws; inventory and warehouse procedures.
• Ability: develop purchasing systems; communicate with officials, vendors and public; prepare clear bid specs; supervise staff.

Responsabilidades

• Directs Purchasing Division operations for city departments; manages supplies and equipment; enforces purchasing policies and perpetual inventory.
• Negotiates purchases for quality, quantity and price; ensures conformance with specifications; prepares bid forms and specs.
• Establishes bidding procedures and bidding calendar; analyzes bids and prepares reports for award of bids.
• Disposes of surplus and obsolete items; contracts for rental or maintenance of equipment; oversees related duties.
