Job summary

City of Wichita seeks Bus Operators for Wichita Transit to transport passengers safely and reliably across the city. The role reports to an Operations Superintendent; schedules are set by seniority and bid; must be available 4 AM to 1 AM, Monday through Saturday; must have a valid Kansas driver's license and obtain a CDL within 120 days.

Full-time positions in the Teamsters Local 795 bargaining unit with benefits. Starting wage is $18.58 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must read, speak, and write English sufficiently to communicate with the public.
• Minimum two years of customer service experience.
• Able to acquire a valid Class A or B CDL with airbrake and passenger endorsements within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates the bus in the safest manner.
• Ensures correct fare is collected.
• Assists passengers with disabilities with securing wheelchairs and restraints.
• Keeps records related to bus operation and customer service.
