Job Description
Our organization requires employees to pass a post‑offer criminal history background check, a physical examination, and a drug screen. Employees must provide proof of identity and employment eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Transport passengers for various transit programs, including fixed routes, paratransit trips for persons with disabilities, senior group outings, nutrition sites, senior medical trips, and senior grocery shopping.
- Operate a non‑commercial (UG) vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Assist passengers with special needs, utilizing lift equipment and securing wheelchairs or other devices.
- Record detailed information such as passenger counts, mileage, fuel usage, and incident reports.
- Perform radio communications and provide information to passengers regarding routes and schedules.
- Identify and note maintenance issues, perform vehicle inspections before and after shifts, fuel vehicles, and maintain cleanliness.
- Deliver seniors to and from nutrition sites, medical appointments, and grocery stores throughout the county.
- Work various shifts, including overtime, holidays, and weekends.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D.), or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
- Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement and DOT Certification preferred, or the ability to obtain a Class C or higher CDL within six months of hire.
- Minimum age of 21 years with a good driving record for the past three years.
- Proof of current liability insurance meeting Kansas legal requirements.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as driving, sitting, bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, raising, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion; may involve lifting weights in excess of 20–100 pounds depending on task.
- Successful completion of a physical agility test, motor vehicle records search, criminal background check, and drug screening.
Salary
$25.20 per hour.
