Job summary

City of Germantown seeks an entry-level Maintenance Worker to join a crew maintaining city streets and storm drainage. You will shovel, patch, repair, and reconstruct pavement, clear ditches, and assist with curb and crosswalk painting in all weather conditions.

Under supervision, perform manual labor using basic tools and equipment, drive standard vehicles, and follow safety protocols. CDL may be required within six months of employment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write sentences with basic vocabulary.
• Six months experience in field maintenance or equivalent training.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read operation manuals and chemical application instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide manual assistance to maintenance of streets and drainage systems.
• Use hand tools to dig, spread and move materials.
• Load and unload materials, equipment and supplies.
• Set up and remove barricades and traffic control devices.
• Operate power tools such as chain saw and paint sprayer.
• Drive pickup trucks and other motorized equipment.
• Clean tools, equipment, materials and work area.
• Perform routine checks of equipment (fuel, fluids, tires).
• Follow safety precautions related to all work performed.
• Clear snow and apply ice melt as needed.
