Job summary

The Department for the Aging seeks a Payroll Associate to support Payroll functions, reporting to the Payroll Supervisor and ensuring compliance with city, employment laws and bargaining agreements. The Payroll Associate will assist in payroll tasks and be knowledgeable in City's Payroll policies.

Responsibilities include preparing bi-weekly payroll summaries, auditing ATGs, processing personnel actions, reviewing payroll reports, assisting MLS payments, and handling payroll paperwork and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years clerical/administrative exp., incl. 1 year supervisory.
  • Associate degree or 60 credits and 4 years clerical/administrative exp., incl. 1 year supervisory.
  • High school diploma and 5 years clerical/administrative exp., incl. 1 year supervisory.
  • Education/experience equivalent to above with 1 year supervisory required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll summary for submission to OPA-FISA.
  • Research and implement additions to gross (ATGs) like RIP and Longevity Increment.
  • Process personnel actions and QA in the PMS.
  • Review payroll reports (161 Pending Pay, 700 Pay Details) for accuracy.
  • Assist with MLS payments by creating worksheets and gathering docs.
  • Process payroll paperwork (Direct Deposit, Commuter Benefits, College Savings).
  • Maintain records of paychecks for separated employees.
  • Perform other related assignments and projects as required.
