Job summary

The City of Clemson is seeking a GIS Technician to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of municipal GIS projects. You will focus on field data collection, data quality, and integration of assets across water, sewer, and stormwater systems.

You will edit datasets, publish maps, train field staff on GPS/GNSS tools, and work with IT to ensure security and backups. A high school diploma and GIS experience are required, with SC driver's license essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of GIS, CAD, surveying, or related experience.
• Valid South Carolina driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Maintains database components of the City's GIS, focusing on water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure, plus sidewalks, streets, buildings, and planning data.
• Provides GIS support to all City Departments as needed.
• Conducts field data collection and verification using mobile devices or GNSS to ensure accurate integration into the City's GIS.
• Assists in deploying field mapping applications and GPS/GNSS technology, with training and technical support for field personnel.
• Designs, updates, and maintains departmental GIS datasets and automated workflows for data accuracy and smooth operations.
• Converts AutoCAD drawings and external data into appropriate formats for integration.
• Collaborates with IT to ensure data security, accessibility, and backups.
