Job summary

City of Lufkin is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to assist in the general maintenance and repair of city-owned buildings and facilities. The role involves routine tasks to support safety, functionality, and upkeep, under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience in building, facility, or mechanical maintenance preferred.
• Valid Driver's License Class C required at placement and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city buildings and facilities, including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and general upkeep.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety concerns and report findings to supervisory staff.
• Assist with preventive maintenance tasks such as filter changes, lubrication, cleaning, and simple equipment servicing.
• Complete assigned work orders, document activities, and maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks.
• Assist with setting up and preparing facilities for city functions, meetings, or special events.
• Respond to maintenance requests and service calls to restore normal operation of building systems.
• Support senior staff or contractors during major repairs, renovations, or projects.
• Follow safety procedures, comply with regulations, and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
