Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Maintenance Worker III to help keep city facilities in top condition, indoors and outdoors. You will perform painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, grounds work, and custodial tasks as assigned, under general supervision.

This role offers variety, problem solving, and a visible community impact. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma plus three years in building maintenance, with relevant experience substituting for education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 3 years of building maintenance experience.
• Experience with heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Texas Class C Operator's License is required.
• Relevant work experience may substitute for education up to 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance.
• Repair and maintain heating and cooling systems.
• Install or replace floors and ceramic tiles.
• Repairs or replaces electrical plugs and cords.
• Read blueprints and schematics.
• Operate forklift and power tools as needed.
