Job summary

The City of Columbia is seeking a seasoned Engineering Division leader to plan, direct and oversee the design, development and implementation of City projects, renovations and installations. The role requires coordinating programs within policy and reporting progress to executive administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or closely related field.
• Eight (8) years of relevant prior experience.
• PE (Professional Engineer) Certification in S.C.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs all activities and operations ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of safety.
• Develops and manages portions of the capital improvement program budget; develops and maintains cost-tracking methods for projects; prepares related reports.
• Provides special assistance to the City Engineer as needed.
• Interacts with City leadership, boards, commissions, and the public to communicate program progress and project status.
• Supervises staff; assigns, reviews and plans work; maintains standards; allocates personnel; handles discipline and promotions.
• Develops and administers assigned budgets; monitors expenditures and ensures efficient use of funds.
