The City of Columbia SC is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to plan, direct, monitor and supervise projects spanning water, sewer and stormwater systems. The role supports the City Engineer, mentors staff, and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

The incumbent will lead design and development of capital projects, prepare bid documents, and coordinate with agencies, contractors and vendors. Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Six (6) years of relevant prior experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer in the State of South Carolina.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.

Responsabilités

• Plans, coordinates and supervises projects for City infrastructure, facilities, and systems.
• Identifies, investigates and analyzes engineering problems; researches, formulates and recommends solutions.
• Conducts engineering studies and prepares oral and written reports.
• Works with consultants, equipment manufacturers/vendors, and contractors in water/wastewater facilities upgrades and modifications.
• Performs professional civil engineering work in designing City water/sewer/stormwater projects and other capital improvements.
• Prepares bid documents and documents for permits and easements.
• Attends pre-bid/pre-construction meetings and reviews contractor pay requests.
