Job summary

The City of Eugene is seeking an accomplished City Engineer to lead the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department. This executive role directs capital delivery, transportation planning, and infrastructure policy to advance Eugene's long-term community vision.

The successful candidate will manage a broad portfolio, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as the primary engineering advisor to city leadership and partners. A P.E.

Qualifications

  • Eight years of professional civil engineering leadership experience.
  • At least three years administering engineering programs and managing professional staff.
  • Experience overseeing capital improvement programs, development review, and long-range planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
  • P.E. license in Oregon or reciprocity required or eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Engineering Division and capital delivery.
  • Oversee planning, design, funding, and implementation of the capital improvement program.
  • Serve as principal engineering advisor to the City Manager, City Council, and regional partners.
  • Lead a diverse team and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
  • Build partnerships with departments, developers, and community stakeholders.
