Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a City Engineer to provide strategic leadership for planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure and capital improvement projects. You will oversee the Engineering and Construction Divisions with a focus on water and wastewater systems, roadways, drainage, and public buildings.

Under the Executive Director of Public Works and Engineering, you will ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgets, and collaborate with stakeholders to advance community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Five years of municipal engineering operations experience, including five years in management or supervision.
• P.E. license in Texas or eligible for reciprocity within six months of hire.
• Proficiency in CAD/GIS and related engineering software.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for planning, design, construction, and delivery of municipal infrastructure and capital improvement projects.
• Lead the Engineering and Construction Divisions with budgeting, contract administration, and performance oversight.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, quality control, and alignment with city priorities and community development goals.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, other departments, and agencies to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
