Job summary

City of Olathe, Kansas is seeking an experienced City Engineer to lead engineering services for a fast-growing community in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The role oversees a 70-employee department with responsibility for capital improvements, construction inspection, stormwater, traffic operations, and critical public infrastructure.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field, 10+ years of civil engineering experience, and at least 3 years of management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Kansas Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering services for the City’s infrastructure department.
• Oversee capital improvement projects, construction inspection, and stormwater management.
• Direct traffic operations and other critical public infrastructure initiatives.
• Provide visionary, collaborative leadership and public-service focus.
