Job summary

City of Greenville is seeking GREAT Transit Drivers to help residents and visitors reach destinations safely. This role operates transit system vehicles on designated routes, performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, collects fares, and provides passenger assistance as needed.

Requirements include a NC Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, and availability for rotating shifts Monday–Friday and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least six months experience operating a bus or heavy motorized vehicle.
• Must possess a valid NC Class A or B CDL with passenger endorsement, without an air brake restriction, and a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operates a transit vehicle safely on City streets.
• Adheres to scheduled routes and maintains time schedules.
• Collects fares and deposits fareboxes daily.
• Prepares daily trip sheets and required reports.
• Completes required CDL pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Submits maintenance repair paperwork to Fleet services.
• Provides route and schedule information to the public.
• Delivers professional and courteous service to passengers and promotes good public relations.
• Ensures cleanliness of transit vehicle inside and out.
• Performs other related work as assigned.
