The City of Conroe seeks a City Attorney who serves as the chief legal advisor to the City Council, City Administrator, and department heads. The role includes providing legal guidance across contracts, civil service, real estate, and land-use regulation, and coordinating outside counsel as needed.
The City Attorney also oversees prosecutions of misdemeanors in the Municipal Court and ensures compliance with prosecutorial ethics while supporting city operations.
The City Attorney is the chief legal advisor to the City Council, City Administrator and City department heads. The City Attorney, directly or through subordinates, provides legal advice and support services in a variety of areas including contracts, civil service and employment matters, real estate, economic development and the regulation of land uses and other activities. Oversees and coordinates the activities of the outside counsel when employed for litigation or specialized legal services for the City. The City Attorney is also responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor offences in the City's Municipal Court.
Doctorate of Jurisprudence. Seven (7) years of experience in the practice of municipal or other governmental law.
Possession of a license to practice law in the State of Texas.
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, hearing, mental acuity, speaking, visual acuity, and walking.
