The City of Conroe seeks a City Attorney to serve as the chief legal advisor to the City Council, City Administrator and department heads. The Attorney provides legal guidance on contracts, civil service matters, real estate, and development projects, and oversees outside counsel as needed.
Responsibilities include prosecuting misdemeanors in the Municipal Court and ensuring ethical, compliant legal practices citywide.
The City Attorney is the chief legal advisor to the City Council, City Administrator and City department heads. The City Attorney, directly or through subordinates, provides legal advice and support services in a variety of areas including contracts, civil service and employment matters, real estate, economic development and the regulation of land uses and other activities. Oversees and coordinates the activities of the outside counsel when employed for litigation or specialized legal services for the City. The City Attorney is also responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor offences in the City's Municipal Court.
Doctorate of Jurisprudence. Seven (7) years of experience in the practice of municipal or other governmental law.
Possession of a license to practice law in the State of Texas.
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, hearing, mental acuity, speaking, visual acuity, and walking.
